What the AQI colours mean
Good
Moderate
Sensitive
Unhealthy
Very unhealthy
Hazardous
KL's air is usually Good to Moderate. It worsens during regional haze season (roughly June–October) and on still, dry afternoons. On hazy days we keep the café doors closed and the bread wrapped — and delivery to your door is the easiest way to skip the drive.
How to store sourdough in KL's humidity
Day 1–3: cut-side down on a wooden board, or in a cloth/paper bag. The crust stays crisp and the crumb stays soft. Avoid sealed plastic — in 80%+ humidity it traps moisture and invites mould within a day or two.
Skip the fridge: cold air stales bread faster (retrogradation) and KL fridges are humid inside. Longer than 3 days: slice the loaf, freeze in a bag, and toast straight from frozen. A frozen slice of LITO rye toasts like it was baked that morning.
Rye and Nordic loaves keep longest — their dense, moist crumb is built for this climate. Focaccia and pastries are best the same day; reheat 5 minutes at 180°C to refresh the crust.
Fresh bread, delivered on bake day
We bake every other day (closed Sundays) and deliver across KL the same morning — Bangsar, Mont Kiara, Damansara Heights, KLCC and more. Order by 6pm the day before.
Good to know
How humid is Kuala Lumpur?
KL sits near the equator, so relative humidity is typically 70–90% year-round, highest overnight and after rain. The live reading above is for Bangsar and refreshes every 10 minutes.
What is a good AQI in KL?
On the US AQI scale, 0–50 is Good and 51–100 is Moderate. Above 100 is unhealthy for sensitive groups; above 150 is unhealthy for everyone. KL readings rise during regional haze season (roughly June–October).
How should I store sourdough bread in KL's humidity?
Keep it cut-side down on a board or in a cloth or paper bag for 2–3 days. Avoid sealed plastic and the fridge — both make crust soft and encourage mould in high humidity. To keep it longer, slice and freeze, then toast straight from frozen.
Does humidity affect how LITO bakes?
Yes. Our sourdough is naturally leavened, so warmth and humidity change how fast the dough proves. We adjust timing with the weather so every bake-day loaf comes out the same.
